BLOOM is a team project working with The Case For Her & Teen Vogue to educate and challenge our
audience’s understanding of female pleasure and sexual wellness! We believe that it is important to
engage with young people on the different things they may encounter when dealing with typically “taboo”
topics such as our bodies, sexuality and health. While we know there is a large number of discussion
points and information that falls under these topics, BLOOM has chosen to focus primarily on
contraception and female masturbation. By highlighting these two topics, BLOOM believes we can not only
learn more about our audience’s experience with contraception and female masturbation, but also be able
to educate by answering questions people may be too afraid to ask!
We know for many contraception and female masturbation may be a bit uncomfortable and daunting to talk about! So in order to help normalize it, BLOOM uses flower and plant analogies to make these topics feel more accessible! When a flower is in bloom, it is a period of growth and change, that results in something beautiful. This is kind of like our mind and bodies! As we mature, understanding and being comfortable with pleasure and wellness is essential in helping us bloom! Therefore, our slogan “How Do You Bloom?” is a way for us to interact with our audience, by understanding how they have grown and how they cope with loving, understanding and appreciating their bodies! In order for female pleasure and sexual wellness to become a mainstream conversation, we need to have open and honest dialogue which is what BLOOM, The Case For Her & Teen Vogue are trying to achieve through this project!
